Loudoun County wealthiest county in nation, among lowest poverty rate

There is certainly no shortage of good news about Loudoun County, and it just keeps on coming. According to recent data from the U.S. Census, Loudoun County has yet again maintained the title of wealthiest county in the country. This distinction is an impressive one, and at Arcadia of Willowsford, we’re proud to be a member of such a flourishing community.

Loudoun County’s median household income of nearly $119,000 is the highest for any county in the nation, and though it dropped very slightly from last year, the median income is still $6,000 per household ahead of number two on the list, Los Alamos County, New Mexico.

Being the wealthiest county in the nation isn’t anything new for Loudoun County, which has held the title for the past several years.

And the good news doesn’t stop there - Loudoun County also has the second-lowest poverty rate of all counties in the nation, according to the data. Los Alamos County was Loudoun County’s main competition in this category as well, with a 3.6 percent poverty rate, slightly less than Loudoun County’s 4 percent rate.

Loudoun County wasn’t alone on the list of highest income counties, geographically speaking. The Northern Virginia area in general had a remarkably strong presence. About one-fifth of the nation’s 50 highest-income counties are located in Northern Virginia, according to the data. Other D.C. suburbs that made an appearance on the top 10 list were Virginia’s Arlington and Fairfax counties, though both fell in their rankings from last year.

Loudoun County has come a long way in a relatively short period of time – it wasn’t so long ago that the area was a small rural community. Its rise to prominence can be attributed to a variety of factors – the proximity of Dulles International Airport and Washington, D.C., its highly educated workforce and strong technology sector, to name a few.

Along with other factors, the high median household income and low poverty rate is reflective of the high quality of life that Loudoun County residents enjoy. And no other community embodies this high quality of life like Arcadia at Willowsford. Our spectacular new construction homes offer only the highest quality building and features, with plenty of room for your family to grow and enjoy Loudoun County for years to come.
