Briar Woods Bands Students to Fan Out on Tag Day

Residents are asked to contribute to the schools music programs to supplement the budget.

Ashburn residents who love music will be asked to support one of their local high school programs Sept. 7 as members of the Briar Woods High School Band fan out across the area to raise money as part of their annual Tag Day.

Students in the band will go door-to-door in their neighborhoods from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 asking for contributions to the school’s band programs that will be used for competition fees, supplies, sheet music, uniform upkeep, instruction and equipment.

According to the BWHS Music Boosters, the students rely heavily on Tag Day, collecting nearly 20 percent of expenditures for the various school bands each year on that day.
