Two Elementary Schools for Ashburn Set to Open

Students are preparing to head back to school next Tuesday, and many Ashburn students will enter the halls of one of the two new elementary schools opening this year.

Discovery Elementary, off Ashburn Village Parkway near Red Rum Drive, and Moorefield Station, near the Moorefield Village community, are intended to alleviate crowding in other parts of Ashburn, particularly in Brambleton where early registration can be key to attending your local school.

Discovery Trailblazers – James E. Dallas is the principal at Discovery. Dallas previously served as principal of Cedar Lane Elementary School. [Robert Marple is the principal at Cedar Lane.]

Moorefield Station Sharks – Karen D. Roche is the principal at Moorefield Station. She previously served as the principal for both Aldie and Middleburg elementary schools. 

Trailside Middle School, under construction along Claiborne Parkway, is slated to open for the 2014-15 school year, while high schools in Loudoun Valley Estates and Lansdowne are on target for the 2015-16 school year.
