Empty Spaces: Village Center at Belmont Greene

What do you think should go in the 38,000-square-foot anchor space along Belmont Ridge Road?

There seem to be too many empty spaces in Ashburn these days. Few shopping centers are completely full, while some resemble a ghost town. Meanwhile construction continues on new spaces, new grocery stores, new shopping centers—such as Moorefield Village where yet another Harris Teeter will open at the southern end of Old Ryan Road.

Today I stopped by Village Center at Belmont Greene where Bloom once had a grocery store. What would you like to see in this space? Another grocery? Have one in mind? A different type of store? Maybe your suggestions will spark an idea for a potential store or business. Tell us in the comments below.

The space anchors a 268,017-square-foot shopping center at Belmont Ridge Road and Portsmouth Boulevard. Other tenants include , , , , , , and . Additional elements of the shopping are planned, but have not been constructed. Belmont Ridge Road is planned for four lanes in that area.
