Family Fun Fest to Benefit Loudoun Interfaith Relief

Sonak Family Chiropractic & Life Wellness hosts August 13th event to help local food pantry.

While most Loudoun residents are enjoying the summer by vacationing, swimming at the local pool or having barbeques many friends and neighbors are struggling to put food on the table. When Will and Alison Sonak, Ashburn residents and owners of Sonak Family Chiropractic & Life Wellness, found out that the shelves of Loudoun Interfaith Relief had reached an all-time low this summer, the pair took the initiative to help out.

“When I found out their need for food greatly increased during the summer months, I felt called to help,” Dr. Will Sonak said, referring to Loudoun Interfaith.

Hence, the Family Fun Fest/Canned Food Drive was born. The event takes place Saturday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sonak’s wellness center, 21240 Ridgetop Circle, Suite 105, in Sterling.

“We have put together a family fun-filled day and we hope that lots of people in the community will come out to enjoy the festivities and bring canned food donations,” said Dr. Will Sonak.

The event offers free food, a moon bounce, chiropractic care, chair and table massages, a dunk tank and celebrity appearances from the Loudoun Hounds Mascot “Fetch”, the Chick-fil-A cow, the Washington Redskins Hogettes and state Senate candidate Shawn Mitchell.

Event attendees can help by bringing cereal, canned fruit or vegetables, small jars of peanut butter, 100 percent fruit juice, or other nonperishable items for donation.

Loudoun Interfaith Relief was established in 1991 and is the largest food pantry in Loudoun County. Last year it served 66,789 individuals, representing a 43 percent increase in service from the previous year.
