Southern Charm and Interiors at Lila Home in Ashburn

Home design business run by mother-daughter team offers boutique gift ideas and home decor.

After returning from their annual trip to the holy grail of interior design – High Point, NC – the co-owners of Lila HOME Designs in Ashburn are invigorated with fresh ideas and products.

Lauren Clement and her mother Linda Riddiough have years of experience as interior designers. Last summer, Clement found that working at home with two small children was difficult, so she began thinking about finding space to work outside the home.

Riddiough had recently moved to area, so they decided to take the opportunity to look for the right place to open their own shop. When the two saw the home at the corner of Stubble and Ashburn roads, they immediately agreed it was the perfect location. They celebrated their grand opening in September.

“The reception has been fantastic, we could not have asked for a better welcome from the community,” said Clement.

The shop’s name comes from a combination of their two first names and is run by Riddiough. They offer a unique collection of home décor, gift ideas, bags, jewelry and furniture.

“The shop started in a couple of rooms on the first floor and has continued to expand into other rooms," Clement said. "It‘s great because I can shop right there for my clients.”

The interior design component of the business is geared toward helping clients “design their homes for functionality and look,” she said. “I listen to clients needs and design from there.”

Clement can create anything that is needed for a room, including window treatments and accessories.

“I pull together a plan so clients can work on things as they are ready,” she said.

She visits homes for an initial 60-90 minute complimentary consultation and then works with the client to figure out a plan for moving forward.

Some of the popular events at the shop have included the Ladies Night Out open houses with shopping and wine. The next one will be held Tuesday, May 7 from 4 - 8 p.m.

They also offer “wish list” forms so customers can create a file of their desired wish list items to make shopping easier for husbands, family and friends.

“This was very popular at Christmas and we are doing it again for Mother’s Day,” Clement said.

This spring, another event will be the Saturday Boutique Barn Sales, where the shop puts out items that haven’t sold in awhile or may have a small “ding” at discounted prices.

“This has been hugely successful,” Clement said. “We want people to find beautiful things for themselves that are affordable. We love the southern feel and charm and we are trying to infuse just a little bit of it here in northern Virginia.”
