Starplex to Anchor Loudoun Station

Theater announcement follows county's decision to bring Metro to Ashburn.

Comstock Partners LC announced Tuesday it has reach an agreement with Starplex Cinemas to serve as the anchor entertainment tenant at Loudoun Station, a development under construction on the north side of the planned Route 772 Metro station.  

Starplex, expected to open in 2014, has planned eleven screens, including its new Intense Digital Experience (IDX) screen, a giant wall-to-wall, floor to ceiling screen with 3D digital imagery and powerful sound. The theater will share a 135,000 square feet building with 10,000 square feet of restaurant space and 50,000 square feet of offices.

“We are very excited about this new location and would like to be known as a family-oriented movie theatre with affordable prices the entire clan can enjoy,” said Tod Hanna, chief operating officer of Starplex Cinemas, in a press release.

Starplex, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, operates 22 theaters around the United States. Loudoun Station is the company’s first location in the mid-Atlantic region.

Loudoun Station, located behind the Home Depot at Ryan Park Center, is planned for 1 million square feet of Class A office space, 300,000 square feet of restaurants and shops, a hotel and about 1,500 homes. The development’s nearly complete first phase, .
