The Ashburn Food Festival Ends Saturday

The restaurant park on Waxpool celebrates summer with food, games and rides.

What’s better on a hot summer eve than a local festival? Starting today and through June 25 check out the – a combination of great food, rides, games and more – at the Ashburn Restaurant Park at 44640 Waxpool Road.

Ashburn Restaurant Park’s landlord Terry Pao conceived the festival as a way to help promote the tenants of that site, which popped up just as the economy began to slump. Several restaurants struggled and closed, but now there are many new and varied options for Ashburn residents.

The owners of Five Guys, Moe’s Southwest Grill, The Curry Club, Shenandoah Grill and newcomer Pizza Go Round are enthusiastic about bringing the festival to Ashburn and their landlord.

“In 28 years of doing business, he is the most proactive landlord I’ve ever worked with. He’s for the tenants and says that his success depends on our success,” Pizza Go Round owner Azmi Zarou said about Pao as he praised the festival. “It’s a great way to connect with the community and show people that we are here.”

The festival opens at 6 p.m. daily today through Friday, and at noon on Saturday. On Wednesday and Thursday there will be unlimited ride specials from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. While WINC FM 92.5 will broadcast live from the festival on Friday.

Despite hard times early on at the restaurant park, new tenants have moved in with enthusiasm, innovative ideas and quality food, creating a buzz in town that, along with the festival, the owners are hoping will increase foot traffic.

What better opportunity to get to know your neighborhood restaurants than taking the family out for fun rides and good food? So enjoy the cotton candy, popcorn, games and carnival rides, but be sure to stop by each restaurant to get a taste of what they bring to the community. Admission is free, but there is a charge for rides.
