Transition Triathlon Opens This Week

Loudoun's only triathlon specialty store opens in Leesburg.

About 100 yards from the Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail where an art studio used to be located sits a gold mine for local triathletes! Opening this week, Transition Triathlon will be the first triathlon store in Leesburg and the only triathlon store in Loudoun County!

Husband and wife team Steve Makranczy and Alex Korab, Transition’s owners, are excited to be in the historic downtown area of Leesburg and even more excited to be close to the W&OD trail. Between mile markers 34 and 34.5, athletes are welcome to stop in and say “Hi,” have a cold drink, relax from their workout, “talk shop” and even sit and watch a race on TV in Transition’s athletes lounge. They want Transition to be a place where triathletes not only shop, but also gather together with the common interests of triathlons.

Both Steve and Alex are Ironman triathletes and have a passion for helping beginner triathletes grow in a sport they truly love. Because of that, Transition provides options for the beginner to make purchases without “breaking the bank” on a sport they may not be sure is right for them. And, for those who already share their passion for triathlons, the store offers elite, high-end equipment to purchase as well.  The storeowners aim to create an environment where every triathlete feels comfortable and welcome, and can find just what they need for their training and race-day needs.

Because Transition is dedicated to the triathlon community, they will have a full-time triathlon coach on staff as well. Cindy Carlyle from “The Conscious Athlete” is a holistic coach and yoga instructor that will provide classes in the store’s in-store fitness studio beginning next month.

Beginning mid to late May, Transition will offer free clinics to the public, including:

They will be a team that motivates each other through support and camaraderie and will be for all experience levels. The team will also have custom clothing, which will be included in the cost of membership.
