Wolf Sponsors April 2 Job Fair at Harper Park Middle in Leesburg

The event, which includes about employers, takes place Monday at Harper Park Middle School.

Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA) is sponsoring a job and career fair from10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, at Harper Park Middle School on Monday.

About 30 employers are expected to paricipate, including a number of workforce resources. Resumes will be accepted for positions in engineering, manufacturing, technology and the heath care industry.

“Basically, you walk in and get a welcome packet that has a map of the venue. It gives you a complete listing of all the businesses and resource folks that are there,” said Wolf staff assistant Ann Potocnak. “We have asked the employers to accept resumes if they possibly can and to talk to people about what opportunities are available in their companies. Really just to give the job seekers that personal interaction that you sometimes just don’t get.”

Potocnak said that the job fair is normally held once a year and offers those who are either unemployed, or underemployed, a chance to find a better, more secure job.

“There are people out there unemployed and they’re trying to put food on the table for their children. There are people out there who are underemployed where they were let go from good jobs, making good salaries, and have essentially lost those opportunities and now they’re working jobs that they’re overqualified for,” she said. “What we’re hoping to do is just introduce the employers to the potential employee.”
