Dulles Airport Now Offers Free WiFi

D.C.-area airports provide free wireless internet service to customers

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced today that wireless internet service is now free at the Dulles International Airport and Reagan National Airport.

Customers can connect from their wireless laptops and mobile devices for free. Customers used to be charged a fee to use wireless internet service at the airports if they did not subscribe to a wireless internet carrier. All users can access the service for free now.

At Dulles Airport customers should connect to “Dulles Airport Complimentary Wifi” and at Reagan Airport they could connect to “Reagan National Complimentary Wifi.” After selecting a network users will see a landing page where they must click to accept the terms of service.

MWAA said this landing page may include pop-up advertisements inthe future. Users can also continue to connect to a specific provider for paid connectivity.

According to MWAA the airport’s WiFi equipment was originally activated in 2007 using wireless carriers. Due to customer suggestions MWAA pursued agreements with wireless carriers to offer WiFi services for free.
