Loudoun County commuters are encouraged to register now to participate in the 2012 Bike to Work Day event set for Friday, May 18, 2012.
Loudoun County has planned two Bike to Work Day “pit stops,” where participants will find refreshments, and receive prizes and giveaways.
Bike to Work Day, coordinated locally by the Loudoun County Office of Transportation Services, is a regional event involving the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association that’s open to new and experience bicyclists.
Last year, about 400 bicyclists visited pit stops in Leesburg and Sterling. Region-wide, nearly 11,000 participants enjoyed free T-shirts, refreshments and giveaways at nearly 50 pit stops.
Loudoun pit stop:
- Leesburg at Raflo Park on Harrison Street, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
- Sterling at the trail entrance to Orbital Sciences Corporation, just east of Route 28, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
