Run the Dogs at Great Country Farms

The western Loudoun farm's family friendly activities now include a dog park; dog park opens April 28.

Since the Zurschmeide family welcomed a new puppy, Sandy, to Great Country Farm at Christmas, the place has caught canine fever. With Sandy always looking for playmates, GCF decided to add a dog park and has invited pups from around the county. It opens Sunday, April 28.

Dog were previously allowed if leashed, but now they'll have the opportunity to run free in the new half-acre enclosed dog park. It includes a doggie wash station and there are plans to provide access to the adjacent pond. Take your dog or dogs to exercise, play or just laze in the sun and shade.

Even before Sandy, farm experience manager Jaclyn Jenkins had thought about adding the park.

“A Yorkshire Terrier club visits the same weekend every year and I thought our four legged guests would love their own play ground,” she said.

The Farm welcomes leashed dogs and has two open off-leash areas for friendly breeds that enjoy a brisk run.
