Sheltie/Collie Mix, Hound Mix Need Homes

Mutts Matter hopes to find a families to adopt Elmer and Teddy.

Elmer, hound/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix

Hello! My name is Elmer. I'm a hound mix, and Mutts Matter thinks I might have some Rhodesian Ridgeback in me too. I'm about one year old, 40 lbs., and am a very sweet boy who still has some puppy energy in me. I love to run and play fetch, and when I run and chase the ball, I spring in the air like a deer. I'm good with other dogs and would love to find a home with a pup brother or sister. I'm potty-trained, crate-trained, and already know the sit command.

I was rescued because I was a victim of the Alabama tornado. I lost my home and my family. Thankfully, Mutts Matter took me in and I have a second chance at a great life. I need a family who will make me feel secure and can show me some leadership because I haven't had much stability in my life lately. I tend to be a little protective of my toys, but am learning the drop command, and am anxious to learn more. I’m very food motivated and smart, and with some consistency and a family who will spend a little time working with me to learn new things, I will be the best dog ever. You'll see if you give me a chance.

Mutts Matter thinks I would do great in a home with another dog and a fenced yard where we can run and play together, but mostly I'm looking for a family who will love me, and I will love them back wholeheartedly.

By adopting me you are giving me a great home, and helping to save the life of another dog in need of rescue. Oh yeah … Roll Tide!

Teddy, Sheltie or Collie Mix

My name is Teddy. I was named that because I reminded one of my rescuers of a big, furry teddy bear. It's so nice to have a new name and a new life, now all I need is a new family to share it with. I'm about 4 to 5 years old, weigh 40lbs, and am either a Sheltie or a Collie Mix. My rescuers really aren't sure, but regardless, they tell me I'm gorgeous. Don't you love my pictures?

I'm the most laid back and easygoing pup you will ever meet. And super sweet. I'm not accustomed to anyone making a fuss over me because I spent my most of my life on the end of a chain in the yard of my previous "owner." I was chained there in the sweltering heat and in the freezing cold of rural Virginia until someone spoke up and saved me from that life. I'm so thankful to be free and have a second chance at a great life.

Despite it all, I am one of THE MOST loving, sweet and gentle dogs my rescuers have ever met. I'm loved by everyone, and I love everyone, including other dogs, and especially children. I can't wait to enjoy my newfound freedom in a new home, and want to have room to run and play with an active, loving family. Mutts Matter thinks I would do best in a single-family home. I do not require a fenced yard, but one is preferable. I deserve a family who is dedicated to walking me, and making sure I get all the exercise and love I need. I'm a great candidate to take to a dog park because I get along great with my fellow canine friends. I would also love to run freely in a fenced yard as long as someone was out there with me, and would bring me inside when we were tired.

I'm a really easy dog to introduce into your life. I'm potty-trained, walk great on a leash, and just want to be your companion. I love to take long walks, smell things and lay in the sun. I have a gorgeous, shiny coat similar to that of a sheltie or a collie, so my new family will need to brush me once a week. What I really want is a loving family to make me a special part of their lives. So, if you are looking for a super sweet, teddy bear of a dog … I'm your guy!
