Wildfire Threat Up Today

The National Weather Service issued the alert as humidity drops and winds gust.

Loudoun is among the jurisdictions alerted by the National Weather Service on an “enhanced threat” for wildfires late this afternoon and early evening, according to a statement from the agency.

Northwest winds are expected to reach 20-25 mph behind a cold front across the region.

Relative humidity is expected to drop to about 30 percent. Gusty winds combined with low humidity and moisture, when combined, enhance the threat of wildfires.
