Can’t Vote on Election Day? Absentee Voting Underway in Loudoun

Voters may apply to vote by absentee ballot for a number of reasons that would prevent them from voting Nov. 5.

Absentee voting has begun in Loudoun County.

Voters who are unable to get to polls on Election Day, Nov. 5, can vote by absentee ballot either in person or through the mail. 

Anyone wishing to vote by absentee ballot mailed must apply by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29.

The last day to vote in person by absentee ballot is Saturday, Nov. 2. The following location in Loudoun County are open for in-person absentee voting, with expanded hours beginning Monday, Oct. 28:

Voter Registration Office, 750 Miller Drive SE, Suite C, Leesburg

  • Monday through Friday, through Oct. 25: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Monday through Friday, Oct. 28-Nov. 1: 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Nov. 2: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cascades Senior Center, 21606 Whitfield Place, Sterling
  • Monday through Friday, Oct. 28-Nov. 1: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Nov. 2: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Dulles South Multipurpose Center, 24950 Riding Center Drive, South Riding
  • Monday through Friday, Oct. 28- Nov. 1:  4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Nov. 2: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Registered voters entitled to vote by absentee ballot include, but are not limited to:
  • Active duty military, their spouses and dependents
  • Students and their spouses away at school
  • People absent on election day for business or vacation
  • People working and commuting to and from home for 11 or more hours, between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
  • People with a physical disability or illness
  • People who are the primary caretaker of a confined family member
