LTE: A Voter Makes Her Case for Joe May for State Senate

May faces two other candidates in Jan. 21 special election.

On Jan. 21, there will be a Special Election for State Senate to fill the vacancy created by Mark Herring’s election as Attorney General. In this important Senate election, I will be supporting Del. Joe May.

Joe has brought a true dedication to innovative solutions with his public service. During Joe’s time in political office, Virginia has maintained a balanced budget and a triple-A credit rating, keeping the door open to growth, and protecting our children and grandchildren from debt. The General Assembly trimmed the size and waste of government by consolidating or eliminating 19 boards and agencies. Joe personally wrote the Rural Rustic Roads program, which has saved taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.

Both the likely Republican and Democrat candidates in this election are divorce attorneys, with limited community involvement. In comparison, Joe May is a professional engineer, accomplished inventor and successful businessman, with 20 years experience in the Virginia House of Delegates. As such, Joe brings a uniquely inventive and practical approach to serving the public, and will be a tremendous advocate for us in the State Senate.
