Voters in 33rd State Senate District Head to Polls Tuesday

Three candidates are vying to replace Mark Herring in the Virginia Senate.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21, voters in Virginia’s 33rd State Senate District will go to the polls for a special election to fill the seat that Attorney General Mark Herring recently vacated. Voters will have their choice of three candidates: Joe T. May (I), Jennifer T. Wexton (D) and John C.L. Whitbeck Jr. (R).

The winner will serve out the remainder of Herring’s term, which expires Jan. 13, 2016.

Voters in the 33rd will vote at their normal precincts. Some precincts are divided, so check Voter Cards to verify you’re in the 33rd State Senate District (not to be confused with the overlapping 33rd State Delegate District).

Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Jan. 21. The voter registration deadline has passed.

Absentee voting remains open through Saturday, Jan. 18. The Voter Registration Office, 750 Miller Drive SE, Suite C, in Leesburg will be open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. everyday through Jan. 18.
