2012 “Nutcracker in a Shell - All Jazzed Up!”

Institute of Performing Arts for Youth and Creative Dance Center cordially invite you to attend the 2012 Nutcracker in a Shell – All Jazzed Up!   Directed by local gem, Geralyn Ward, this jazzy version performed by children for children introduces younger audiences to the tradition of Nutcracker. With our largest Cast ever, 100+ children, it will be our biggest show to date!  In 2011, this event was named one of the ten "Best Family Friendly Activities in the Washington, DC, Region" performance weekend by the esteemed National Children's Museum and has become a local Loudoun County must-see family event.

This year’s presentation is comprised of 100+ children from Loudoun and Fairfax Counties.  Leading the cast as Clara will be talented and engaging dancers Casey Beetle, Emily Cohn, Jordan Greenlee, and Ellie Mundie.  Raphael Schreiber debuts in his first appearance at the charming Nutcracker Prince.  Lauren Est and Emily Galzerano reprise their roles as the beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy.  Auditions for Nutcracker are held in June and August each year, and all those who audition are included in the cast.
