Halloween Candy Buyback to Benefit Troops Overseas

A local dentist is continuing a great Halloween tradition that rewards kids for eating less candy, and helps the troops overseas.   This is the third year that the Cascades Center for Dental Health is participating in the Halloween Candy Buyback, a national program that originated in Wisconsin.  Kids and adults can bring all their extra Halloween candy to Cascades, in Sterling, VA, who will donate it to US troops overseas.

The troops aren’t the only ones to benefit.  Cascades will pay each good samaritan $1 for each pound of candy donated.  Kids will also receive a goody bag that includes a flashing firefly toothbrush.  Plus, each donation will enter your family into a drawing for a free iPod.

“This program is a real win-win,” said Dr. Shreyesh Ruparelia of Cascades.  “Kids are rewarded for helping out the troops, and some soldiers get a little taste of home.  My team and I really enjoy the chance to give back to our community.”

Once the candy is collected, it will be sent to our troops through Operation Gratitude.  Last year the Cascades Center sent over 600 pounds of candy overseas to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and this year hopes to send even more.

The Cascades Center for Dental Health is a leading provider of comprehensive dental care and is located at 46302 McClellan Way, Sterling, VA.  To donate your extra Halloween candy, bring it to Cascades on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, between 3 and 7 pm.  For more information, or any questions, call their dental office at (703) 444-5095, go to www.Cascadesdental.com or email yhaen@cascadesdental.com.
