Run for Jaime Encouraged Saturday to Remember Jogger Who Died This Week

Jamie Rowley, 31, died Wednesday morning after she was struck by a car in Ashburn.

With a flood of financial support coming in for the family of Jamie Rowley, friends are also encouraging runners to get out Saturday morning and run in her memory.

Rowley, 31, was struck near 6:45 a.m. Wednesday morning at the corner of Claiborne Parkway and Waxpool Road. She died a short time later at an area hospital.

Run for Jaime was organized on Facebook. People are also supporting the event with #runforJamie on social media.

"In support of Jaime, let's all run on Saturday in her honor," reads the event page. "Wherever you are, however far you go,"

Thank goodness for the W&OD trail, unless someone is very confused, I don't have to deal with vehicular traffic at all. The Lance Armstrong wannabes? Now that's a different topic for a different day.

If you would like to commemorate Jamey, do two things: • SLOW DOWN and • STAY OFF YOUR PHONE while driving. Don't be the next perpetrator of a calamity like this.
