Brambleton, Ashburn Farmers Markets Open This Weekend

Head to one of the community markets to get local produce and other products from the region.

The Ashburn and Brambleton Farmers Markets open for the season this weekend at their respective locations, offering an array of products and produce from farms around the region.

The Ashburn Farmers Market opens from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 4, in the front corner of Pipeline Plaza shopping comlex at the corner of Ashburn Village Boulevard and Farmwell Drive. A May 4 Grand Opening Festival will feature an expanded market with more local vendors, a ribbon cutting ceremony with Supervisor Ralph Buona, free balloons for kids and seasonal recipes. The Ashburn market will continue each Saturday through Oct. 26.

The Brambleton Farmers Market opens from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, May 5 in the Sport & Health Club parking lot along Soave Drive in the Brambleton Town Center. The Washington Capitals’ mascot Slapshot plans to attend opening day, and there will be balloons for kids and recipes for products found at the market. New vendors will be at the market this year, too. The Brambleton market continues each Sunday through Oct. 27.

Shopping local Farmers Markets is both good for you and good for the local economy. Dollars spent at Farmers Markets help preserve farmland, support local farm families and strengthen the community.

The local Farmers Markets are run by the Loudoun Valley HomeGrown Markets Cooperative Inc. and is dedicated to providing a place for local farms and food artisans to sell their wares. Everything sold at the markets is raised, grown or made from scratch by the seller.
