(Ashburn, Va.) - On Wednesday, November 20, almost 100 residents and staff at Ashby Ponds retirement community participated in a turkey shoot putting challenge and a turkey trot to help area children in need. The community raised and donated $1200 to Backpack Buddies, a program that provides weekend food to local children. The program, supported through Galilee United Methodist Church in Sterling, serves over 280 children weekly at nearby elementary and middle schools.
