Ashby Ponds Welcomes 700th Resident
Ashby Ponds welcomed its 700th resident in early July. The community is currently operating at an occupancy of 94%, well above the industry average of 88%.
(ASHBURN, VIRGINIA) – Ashby Ponds, a continuing care retirement community in Ashburn, Va., welcomed its 700th resident in early July. The community, which opened in the fall of 2008, is currently operating at an occupancy of 94 percent, well above the industry average of 88 percent.
Current residents at Ashby Ponds will likely cite safety, convenience, value, and quality of life as some of the reasons they chose to move to the community; but, these are just a few of the reasons Ashby Ponds has continued to attract more and more new neighbors. The community opened a new residential building, Red Robin View, in April 2012, which includes 80 new one- and two-bedroom apartment-style homes, and has allowed for over 100 new residents to the community.
“It’s great to be building and welcoming new neighbors to the community,” said David Gallagher, the Executive Director at Ashby Ponds. “When we introduced Red Robin View, we knew these apartment homes would not be available for long.” In fact, only one of the 80 new apartment homes is still available and the community is now discussing options for adding additional residences in the near future.
“The current residents are excited to welcome new neighbors, and the new residents are eager to enjoy the abundance of activities and amenities available at the community,” said Holly Henderson, the Director of Sales at Ashby Ponds.

Another possible reason for continued success at the community is the Erickson Realty and Moving Services program, which provides a seamless transition for future residents. “Our relationships with premier real estate agents and our connections with downsizing and moving companies often make the entire process more efficient and less overwhelming for our future residents,” said Elizabeth McCumiskey, the Personal Moving Consultant at Ashby Ponds.
Additionally, Ashby Ponds is located in Loudoun County, which has been called one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. Loudoun County saw an 84.1% increase in population from 2000 to 2010, and the County is seeing a recovery in the real estate market with a 26.5 percent increase in housing sales in May 2012, as compared to May 2011. Just last week, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors moved to support Metro’s silver line extension to Loudoun County, which many expect to bring increased home values and additional businesses to the area in the coming years.
