Ashby Ponds residents hold an Open House to recruit new players and explain the sport of Pickleball

Some Ashby Ponds residents have recently introduced a new sport to their neighbors: pickleball.  A sport continually rising in popularity for seniors, pickleball is a paddle and ball game played on a doubles badminton court with the net at ground level.  The game is named for the founder's family dog, Pickles, who would chase errant balls and reluctantly give the balls back.

Last week, the new pickleball club at Ashby Ponds held an open house at Galilee United Methodist Church in Sterling, Va., where the group plays once a week.
