Annual 9/11 Motorcycle Ride to Pass Through Ashburn Aug. 16

The commemorative ride was designed to recognize those who lost their lives because of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

America’s 9/11 Foundation Inc.’s annual commemorative motorcycle ride in remembrance those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks will pass through Loudoun next Friday, with the long string of bikes expected to stream through Leesburg around 2 p.m. and Ashburn shortly thereafter. The time could be impacted by traffic and weather.

The motorcycle procession will travel through downtown Leesburg along King Street before heading to the Route 7/15 Bypass and the Dulles Greenway. During the event, King Street will be closed to traffic, including intersections crossing the road; neither vehicles nor pedestrians will be permitted on the road until the procession has passed.  Road closures are expected to last 20-25 minutes.

Spectators who wish to watch and cheer are encouraged to arrive in downtown Leesburg not later than 1:30 p.m. Pedestrians also commonly gather at overpasses along the Greenway to wave at the procession.
