Time to Register for Summer Fun!

We are so excited to be holding many one day workshops for youth this summer. Registration for these workshops is now open, and forms are available on our website.

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, and remembered to thank our troops, past and present, for their service and dedication to this country. Now that the three day weekend has ended, it's back to work at the 4-H office and time to start accepting registrations for our 2012 Summer Fun Workshops!

In the previous post, I stated that information and forms could be found at our website...however, we now have a NEW website: http://tinyurl.com/Loudoun-County-4-H. This is a Google site, and we're starting to move towards using this as our website in the hope that it will be easier for all to use and navigate. The regsitration forms for Summer Fun can be found on our website—these must be completed and returned to the Extension Office along with payment for the workshops. Leadership Development
June 13-14, 10:30a.m.-4:30p.m.

This two day workshop will give you the necessary skills and knowledge to become leaders in your community. Participants will work on identifying key issues in Loudoun County and work together to design a community service project that will address those issues.

Loudoun County Heritage for Cloverbuds
June 19, 10:00a.m. – 3:00p.m.

Take a trip back in time and discover what it was like to live in Loudoun over 100 years ago! We will visit the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum in Sterling, VA. Participants will take part in fun, hands-on activities that will guide them through Loudoun’s past.

Age limit:     5-8                            Cost:         $10.00

Babysitting Basics:  First Rate Sitters!
July 12, 9:00a.m.-3:00p.m.

Become a first rate sitter by learning what children need, what the responsibilities of a sitter are, about fire safety issues, what to do in an emergency, making fun and nutritious snacks, creative activities to use with children, and what to put in a Babysitter’s Kit.  You will also learn and share ideas on advertising your service.

Loudoun County Heritage
July 16, 10:00a.m. – 3:00p.m.

Take a step back in time and explore your community the way it was over 100 years ago! Participants will tour the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum and take part in hands on activities that demonstrate life in Loudoun in the early 20th century.

Project Book Day
July 17, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

It’s time to start thinking about your project book! Bring all of your project work for the year to this workshop for a day devoted to working on your project record, so it can be entered for competition. This class only for members completing project records for 2011-2012.

Geocache Adventure I
July 19, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Come explore hidden areas of Loudoun County in this Geocache Adventure! Participants will navigate through a local park using GPS technology, discovering hidden treasures along the way, and will select one point to send off a trackable Virginia Geocoin.

Fair Camp

Healthy Living
July 30, 9 a.m - 3 p.m.

Learn how to get fit and eat healthy, through a day filled with hands on activities.

Geocache Adventure II
Aug 2, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Explore areas of Loudoun County using GPS technology, discovering hidden treasures along the way! Participants will choose a spot to send a trackable Virginia Geocoin out into the world.

LEGO Mindstorm Robotics
Aug 8-9, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00p.m.

Participants will use computers and LEGO blocks to build a robot, program it where to go and how, and put it to the test on the ultimate obstacle course!

4-H Project Record Workshop
August 16, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
