Casino Night, Silent Auction to Honor Tony DiGiovanna

Funds to assist family that suffered tragic loss in November accident at reservoir

Just three days after Thanksgiving 2011, friends and family of Ashburn resident Tony DiGiovanna were shocked to learn that he lost his life during canoe ride on the nearby Beaverdam Creek Reservoir. DiGiovanna is credited with saving youngest son by encouraging the boy to swim to shore, even though he was unable himself.

Friends of the family have planned the Tony DiGiovanna Poker and Casino Fundraiser and Silent Auction on Jan. 28 to help the four children he left behind. DiGiovanna was known as a great organizer who enjoyed poker, a coach, a pilot, a musician and a motorcycle rider, among other things.

The event takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Embassy Suites North Dulles hotel and will include live entertainment from Tumble Down Shack, raffles, a small buffet and a cash bar. Casino games include black jack, roulette, craps, money wheel and slots. A 7 p.m. Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament is also planned in his honor.
