Kick Off The New Year In A Healthy Way

Get a head start on those New Year's Resolutions with a local charity run/walk race.

Get a foot ahead on those healthy New Years Resolutions with a charity run/walk this weekend. Start out New Year’s Eve with the 10k, 5k, and 1K Walk in Brambleton or wait until the first day of the new year and lace up the shoes for the : 10K Race & 4K Fun Run.

The Ringing in Hope takes place around the Brambleton community while the REHAU is over the rolling hills of the historic Morven Park Estate. These events are not exclusively for runners—walkers and joggers are welcome to participate and there is a long list of family fun activities including moonbounces, magicians, balloon artists and more. Both before and after the REHAU race, there will be live music by Dave Berry, food, drinks and prizes in the heated Ida Lee Park gymnasium.

In addition to the heart pumping fun, both races allow for participants to give back to local charities. The Ringing in Hope supports Charity Care, which is a coalition of local, non-profit organizations united to share resources and experiences to serve the local community. A few charities benefiting from the race include Jill’s House, Joshua’s Hands, La Voz of Loudoun, Loudoun Interfaith Relief and the Loudoun County Habitat for Humanity. At the REHAU Rotary Resolution Race, the eleven charities that will be recipients of the race proceeds are:

Ringing in Hope Run/Walk starts at 10:00 a.m. December 31st at the Brambleton Town Center. Early registration has ended, but participants can register on race day beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The REHAU Rotary race stars at Ida Lee Park on January 1st. The 4K Run/Walk begins at 10:20 a.m. and the 10K race starts at 10:40 a.m. Race registration can be completed online through December 31st ($24 for the 4K and $30 for the 10K). On the day of the race, registration for the 4K is $28 and the 10K is $35.
