Meet Izzy - A sweet pup rescued from a life on a chain

Izzy is a super-sweet and docile collie-mix pup who has a new lease on life and is adjusting to the new world around her. She is looking for a loving family to share her new life with.

Hi Everyone! My name is Izzy. I’m about 4 to 5 years old, 30 lbs and a “mutt”. I have the beautiful shiny coat of a Collie, but the soulful face of a Dachshund… folks tell me I’m beautiful. Don’t you love my new pictures?

I’m not used to so much attention, but I’m starting to like it. I was rescued from a property where I spent my most of my life on the end of a chain. I lived outside in the sweltering heat and the freezing cold of rural Virginia, until someone spoke up and saved me from that life. I’m so thankful to be free and have a second chance at a good life.

Despite all I’ve been through, I’m still one of the MOST loving, sweet, and gentle dogs my rescuers have ever met. I’m timid right now, but that’s because everything is so new to me. It will take me some time to adjust and settle in, but I will be just fine. Mutts Matter also rescued my pup brother, Teddy, who was chained up with me for years. He’s living high on the hog now with a great family in Reston; he loves to play, cuddle with his people, and of course get treat rewards for his cuteness. It’s my turn now.

I just settled into my foster home and have 2 new pup siblings. I like them, and I’m good with other dogs, gentle with kids and all people, and I’ve taken quickly to crate-training. I love the safety and security of my crate as I adjust to all the new sights and sounds around me. I’m learning new things every day, like how to walk on a leash, and what these things called “stairs” are for… I’ve been fully vetted and am very healthy. Now I just need a loving family to make my life complete.

Mutts Matter thinks I would do best in a single family home. I do not require a fenced yard, but one is preferable. What I really need is a caring and patient family who will give me some time to settle in, and will make me a special part of their lives. Living in a home with another dog would help build my confidence, but I’d do fine as an only dog too. I can’t wait to enjoy my new found freedom in a new home. If you are looking for a super sweet and gentle pup…I’m your girl!
