Snow Day Activities to beat the boredom

"Another snow day for this year, it seems there is "snow" end to this winter. Below are some snow day and Valentine's Day activities listed for you, should you find yourself feeling a bit more adventurous today.

Have your own Winter Olympics! We definitely have enough snow.

Color Hunt: Each family member is given a bag and a color. Then the hunt is on! Each person will go through the house looking for as many items they can in their color and then share with each other their discoveries.

Active Cube: Using a dice you can assign a number to any activity. Roll the dice and see what silly move you landed, flap your arms like a bird, 5 jumping jacks or 2 frog hops. The laughter and fun are endless.

Or you can bring the outdoors inside with another cool (yep, pun intended) art project: melting art! Set art paper atop cooling racks and trays, then pile on the snow. Kid’s paint the snow with a simple food-coloring-and-water mix, then as the snow melts, the colors blend on the paper into a kind of stained-glass effect

Valentine’s Day is here, a great time to do some fun holiday activities.

Cut a heart shape out of construction paper and create holes around the edges. Your child can use this with yarn or a shoelace to practice the fine motor skill of lacing.

Love Potions: Gather your materials. You will need some baking soda, vinegar and then add  food color and food flavoring ( strawberry and cherry) . You will want clear containers, spoons, and whatever you need to protect your house from food color. Let your child explore mixing the ingredients together and see the magic of science on their faces.

Heart Shape Stamping: Now all you need to do is shape the cardboard tube (paper towel roll, toilet paper roll or even wrapping paper).  Simply squish and manipulate it until you reach the desired shape. If you are finding that the tube is becoming a little wonky, you can always add a strip of tape around the tube to help it hold its shape. You can use this heart shaped roll with washable paint and create master art pieces to share with someone special.
