Evelyn Eastabrooks, Church Volunteer, Leesburg Native

Obituary and service information from Colonial Funeral Home.

Evelyn Ann Eastabrooks (nee Thomson) of Ft. Thomas, KY passed quietly away on January 29th in Leesburg VA. She was 94 years of age and lived a life of service to others.

She is survived by her loving children Evelyn Shucart and John Eastabrooks as well as their caring spouses Jim Shucart and Veronica Eastabrooks. She also leaves behind five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren who loved her dearly.

Evelyn was a devout Christian and enthusiastic volunteer in her church as well as many organizations whose purpose was to help others. She held the position of President of the Ft. Thomas Women's Club and worked tirelessly to sustain and build that organization.

Along with her husband Fred she enjoyed their many trips across the U.S. searching for fossils and minerals to add to their extensive collection. Mom shared that enthusiasm with her grandchildren and great grandchildren showing off her beautiful minerals to any who visited.

Evelyn also played a great game of bridge and well into her nineties frequently visited her Virginia friends to play. As her family and so many close friends will tell you, she and her sweet welcoming smile will be sorely missed.

A graveside service will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in the spring where Evelyn will be inurned next to her husband, Frederick. Please leave condolences at colonialfuneralhome.com.
