Loudoun County Father, Son, Killed in Pa. Crash

A Loudoun County father and son died this Saturday in a helicopter crash in Pennsylvania. 

Carl Robert Woodland, 29, of Lovettsville, and his son, Noah Robert McKain Woodland, 3, of Leesburg, were killed in the Saturday evening crash.

The Scranton-Times Tribune newspaper reported that the plane came down in a wooded area in Wyoming County. The helicopter was en route to a Leighton airport when air traffic control lost contact with the aircraft.

The helicopter, with 5 people inside, was found Sunday in “rugged terrain,” the according to the Federal Aviation Administration’s notice on the crash.

WJLA spoke with friends of the victims, who described Woodland as a family man.

"I don't think I've ever seen a man with so much family around him at any given time,” neighbor Frank McDonough told WJLA. “It's just a terrible tragedy."

The other victims in the crash were identified as Bernard Michael Kelly, 58, of Ellicott City, Md.; his daughter, Leanna Mee Kelly, 27, of Savage, Md.; David Ernest Jenny Jr., 31, according to the Scranton-Times.
