Obituary: Gavin Rupp, 13

Ashburn teen Gavin Rupp fought brain cancer for more than two years and inspired hundreds, including the Washington Nationals' Bryce Harper.

The following obituary was provided by Loudoun Funeral Chapel.

Gavin Edward Rupp, 13, of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, after an inspiring 30-month battle with cancer.   

Gavin was born on Friday, September 24, 1999 in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Eagle Ridge Middle School. He was passionate about playing baseball and football and spending time with his friends. He was also an avid fan of Ohio State and the Washington Nationals. He was an exuberant young man that loved life and believed in paying forward.
Gavin leaves his loving family to cherish his memory including his parents, Chris and Sandy Rupp, his brother, Ian, and sister, Abby Rupp; his maternal grandparents, Fred & Jane Ramsey of Lucasville, OH; paternal grandparents, Larry & Sally Rupp of Lucasville, OH; his aunts and uncles, Mark Rupp, Dennis and Kathy Ramsey, Sigrid and John Wolford, Marsha and Howie Fraley; and five cousins, including Mark Rupp, Jr., Tracy Rupp, Lauren Wolford, Drew Wolford, and Aubree Fraley. Gavin was predeceased by his aunt Carole Ramsey.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made in Gavin’s memory to the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
