Ronald Roberts, 87, Construction Executive

Ronald Roberts of Ashburn, Va., died at 6:06 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the age of 87. Ron and his wife Christel previously resided in Alpharetta, Ga., and Grand Prairie, Texas.

Prior to his retirement, Ron worked for 40-plus years in the construction and commercial real estate development industry. He began his career as a carpenter and retired as the executive vice president and partner of I. Heller Construction, based in Edison, N.J.

He was born on April 24, 1926 in West Orange, N.J., the son of Norman and Helen Roberts. He graduated from West Orange High School and the University of Miami. Ron served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII as a flight engineer.

Surviving Ron is his beloved wife of 43 years, Christel I. Roberts; his daughter Patricia Rogers of York, PA; his son Scott Roberts of Rockville, MD; and two stepsons: Patrick McDaniel of Howell, NJ and Richard McDaniel of Ashburn, Va.; as well as 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother Norman Roberts and his daughter Susan Roberts.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Union Cemetery, Leesburg, Va.
