Obituary - Patricia Sadowski

Patricia Elaine Sadowski, 71, of Reston, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her home with her daughter by her bedside, Monday, January 20, 2014.  She was born May 14, 1942 in Greenville, SC.  She was an only child to her parents, Austin and LaNelle Detweiler.  Patricia married her husband Stanley “Stas’ “ in 1971 and they moved to Columbia, MD, then to Horsham, PA, until finally settling in Reston, VA in 1984.  Patricia was amazing with people, and had never met a stranger.  Her roles in the community began as a Charter Volunteer at Reston Hospital when it opened in 1986.  She served lovingly for 11 years.  After her time at Reston Hospital, in 1997 she learned of a new restaurant in town preparing to open its doors, the Silver Diner. Patricia applied and was hired as one of their original employees. Little did she know the diner would become her home away from home.  She was devoted to her role as Hostess for 15 years and loved “her” diner through and through until she could no longer work due to illness. Throughout the last year she longed to be well again to return to work.  Her passion for the Silver Diner and the love she received in return was priceless.

Patricia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She especially loved The Lord with all of her heart, and throughout her physical and emotional struggles in life she always gave the glory to God. 

Patricia is survived by her husband of 41 years, Stas’ Sadowski , their daughter Tania Woods of Leesburg, VA, Patricia’s son Scott Stephenson, of Ashburn, VA, Stas’s son Paul Sadowski of Jacksonville, FL.  She was blessed with one Son-in-law, Timothy Woods and one Daughter-in-law, Candace Stephenson.  Patricia has four grandchildren, Timothy and Tanner Woods and Skylar and Austin Stephenson.  Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Austin Detweiler, and is survived by her mother, LaNelle Detweiler.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 where services are scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 2014 starting at 11:00 a.m.
