Animal Cruelty Charges for Ashburn Woman

Anna L. Brunk, of Ashburn, has been charged with charged with animal cruelty following the discovery of a dead dog that belonged to her at a residence in Waterford.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office assisted Loudoun County Animal Control during a recent search of a home in Waterford where they discovered the deceased animal and subsequently charged Brunk. Conviction carries a maximum penalty of 12 months in jail and $2,500 in fines.

Animal Services declined say why the warrant was obtained for the Waterford home.

“This is a tragic circumstance and outcome that could have been avoided, because we live in a community where many resources exist for the purpose of re-homing pets,” said Animal Services Director Tom Koenig in a press release about the incident. “As a county resource, we implore citizens to contact Animal Services or any one of the many non-profit agencies in the region for assistance if they are unable to care for or no longer wish to own their pets.”
