Ashburn Crime Update: Burglaries and Larcencies Fill Reports

A woman is attacked at Goose Creek Village, a domestic dispute and an update on the latest Route 28 shutdown.

Domestic Dispute Near Ryan’s Corner

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 21800 block of Petworth Court around 11:15 p.m. March 21 after neighbors reported a male subject was banging on a door and had damaged a window. Deputies were unable to make contact with residents in the home and entered the home out of concern for the family’s safety. A 53-year-old Ashburn man was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault, obstruction of justice and assault on a law enforcement officer.

Tractor Trailer Accident on Route 28

After a replica grenade previously shut down Route 28, the Sterling Boulevard ramps were closed temporarily around 7 a.m. March 22 after a tractor trailer carrying books overturned. Deputies charged the driver with reckless driving and failure to secure a load.

Helicopter Helps Find Suicidal Male

A Fairfax County Police Department helicopter assisted the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in locating an adult male who left home threatening to hurt himself around 10 p.m. March 15. The man was found unharmed and taken into custody on an emergency order.

Woman Attacked at Goose Creek Village

Fairfax County police apprehended and arrested a woman who allegedly fled a scene in Ashburn after confronting a former co-worker with a knife. The suspect attempted to assault a 29-year-old on the 42800 block of Creek View Plaza in Goose Creek Village just before 10 a.m. Feb. 15. The victim received minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Kids on Bikes Hit with Paintballs

An unknown group began pelting three juveniles with paintballs as they rode their bicycles along the 43300 block of Southern Walk Plaza at 3:22 p.m. Feb. 18. No one was hurt. The suspects were described as teenagers riding in separate vehicles.

Hit and Run Incidents

Investigators identified a 15-year-old female from Ashburn as the driver who left the scene after damaging two cars parked near Felicity Place and Clappertown Drive around 2:20 p.m. Feb. 11.

The driver of a red Honda Civic did not stop after striking a 17-year-old who was riding a bicycle in the parking lot of Ashbrook Commons Plaza at 5 p.m. March 20. The teen received minor injuries.

Burglaries

Lansdowne Incidents

  • Four residents on the 19060 block of Quiver Ridge Drive in Lansdowne reported finding their window screens damaged or removed between 3 p.m. Feb. 4 and 8:30 a.m. Feb. 5. A pack of cigarettes was removed from the rear deck of one residence.
  • Residents returned to their home on the 19000 block of Kipheart Drive at 7 a.m. Feb. 6 to find an open window and signs that someone had entered. Nothing was reported missing.
  • While on the scene there, deputies learned of the possible attempted burglary of a neighbor’s home between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 6. A window screen at that second home was damaged, but entry was not gained.

Belmont Greene Incidents

  • Someone entered the Montessori Academy on the 20300 block of Bowfounds Street in Belmont Greene and removed a computer and monitor between 7 p.m. Feb. 2 and 8 a.m. Feb. 3.
  • Then, on March 1, the academy reported that someone broke in again and took a laptop.
  • The glass door to the Hunan Village restaurant on the 42900 block of Piccadilly Plaza in Village Center at Belmont Greene was broken and cash was taken sometime between 10 p.m. Feb. 6 and 10 a.m. Feb. 7.
  • Then between 9:15 p.m. Feb. 14 and 10:10 a.m. Feb. 15 someone broke a window at another restaurant in the same shopping center and removed alcohol.
  • Someone entered a garage on the 20200 block of Nightwatch Street in Belmont Greene between 9:30 p.m. Feb. 18 and 9:30 a.m. Feb. 19 and removed a GPS.

Ashburn Village Incidents

  • Someone entered an apartment on the 20000 block of Coltsfoot Terrace in Ashburn Village between 10:20 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. Feb. 27. Two doors were left unlocked, a window was found open and cash was reported missing.
  • Someone entered an apartment through an unlocked door on the 20060 block of Coltsfoot Terrace in Ashburn Village between 7 p.m. and 10:10 p.m. March 3 and took a laptop, a video game system, video games and cash.

Someone entered a home on the 43580 block of Blacksmith Square in Ashburn Farm between 12:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Feb. 27 and took clothing and jewelry. A rear sliding glass door was found slightly open.

A resident of the 21670 block of Bronte Place reported being awakened by an intruder wearing all black, including a mask, who fled. The resident reported that someone had rummaged through two vehicles parked in the garage. Nothing was reported missing. Entry may have been gained through an unlocked door.

Someone entered a home on the 21300 block of Larue Court in Belmont Glen through an open garage door and unlocked interior door between 10:30 p.m. March 13 and 7:30 a.m. March 14 and took two smart phones, a tablet, jewelry and a wallet, including its contents.

A resident reported cash and other items missing from a home on the 21200 block of Smokehouse Court between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. March 17.

Larcenies/Attempted Larcenies

GWU Area Incidents

  • A wallet was reported taken from a vehicle on the 20200 block of River Ridge Terrace between 12:10 a.m. and 3:335 a.m. Feb. 11.
  • Music CDs were reported taken from a vehicle on the 45150 block of Gayton Terrace between 9 p.m. Feb. 10 and 10:30 a.m. Feb. 11.

Construction Site Incidents

  • Items were taken from a construction site on the 22100 block of Breitling Terrace between 10 p.m. Feb. 2 and 6 a.m. Feb. 3.
  • Items were taken from a construction site near Red Tartan Way and Scotchbridge Place in Brambleton between midnight Feb. 4 and 10:45 a.m. Feb. 6.
  • Tools were reported taken from a construction trailer near Evergreen Mills Road and Langley Oaks Drive between 2 p.m. March 10 and 6:30 a.m. March 12.
  • Items were reported taken from a home under construction on the 42600 block of Macauley Place between 4:45 p.m. March 14 and 7:15 a.m. March 15.
  • Kitchen appliances were reported taken from a home under construction on the 20600 block of Pilate Square in Goose Creek Village between 4:30 p.m. March 13 and 6:50 a.m. March 14.

Belmont Country Club Incidents

  • A 2011 BMW 335X was reported taken from a parking lot on the 19700 block of Willowdale Place in the Belmont Country Club community just after midnight March 12. The vehicle was recovered later on Farmingdale Drive with two mp3 players missing.
  • Medication was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 43150 block of Baltusrol Terrace between 11 p.m. March 20 and 8 a.m. March 21.
  • Cash and cigarettes were reported taken from a vehicle on the 43140 block of Baltusrol Terrace between 11 p.m. March 20 and 8 a.m. March 21.
  • Items were reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 19600 block of Olympic Club Court between 8 p.m. March 20 and 8 a.m. March 21.
  • A bicycle was reported taken from an open garage on the 19600 block of Player Court between 10 p.m. March 20 and 7 a.m. March 21. The bicycle was recovered nearby.

A unattended purse was taken as the victim took items from their vehicle to their home on the 21800 block of Blossom Hill Terrace between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Feb. 6

A GPS and mp3 player were reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 21500 block of Merion Street between 4:30 p.m. Feb. 19 and 8:30 p.m. Feb. 20.

A resident reported stopping a suspect from taking a bicycle from a neighbor’s backyard on the 43200 block of Chokeberry Square at 1:16 p.m. Feb. 27. The suspect—described as a 5-foot-8 black male, 18 to 21 years old, with an average build—returned the bicycle and left the scene.

Sunglasses were reported taken from an unlocked vehicle in an open garage on the 42700 block of Summerhouse Place in Broadlands between 11 p.m. March 17 and 7 a.m. March 18.

A firearm was reported taken from a business on the 44600 block of Guilford Drive between 1:28 p.m. March 17 and 2 p.m. March 18.

Cash was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 43100 block of Gatwick Square between 6 p.m. March 18 and 6 a.m. March 19.

Change was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 20700 block of Steamside Place between 7 p.m. March 18 and 7:30 a.m. March 19.

Cash was reported taken from a gym locker on the 42300 block of Soave Drive in Brambleton between 7:30 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. March 20.

Destruction of Property/Vehicle Tampering

Pink Paint

  • Exterior wall of a building on the 19400 block of Golf Vista Plaza between 5:10 p.m. Feb. 7 and 8:20 a.m. Feb. 8.
  • Exterior windows of a building on the 19400 block of Deerfield Avenue between 10 p.m. Feb. 7 and 7 a.m. Feb. 8.
  • Exterior walls of a building on the 19300 block of Lansdowne Boulevard at 3 a.m. Feb. 7.
  • Two roadside signs on commercial site on the 44100 block of Riverside Parkway between 4:05 a.m. and 4:15 a.m. Feb. 8.

Ashburn Village Incidents

  • Four vehicles parked along the 20400 block of Cool Fern Square were “keyed” between 12:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. March 4. The owner of another vehicle in the same area reported the same damage between 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. March 7.
  • Several windows were reported damaged to a home on the 21000 block of Lost Moccasin Terrace shortly after 8 p.m. March 4.
  • Wiring was damaged at a construction site on the 44100 block of Ashburn Village Shopping Plaza between 7 p.m. March 7 and 6 a.m. March 8.
  • Five window screens were reported damaged on a home on the 20300 block of French Open Court in Ashburn Village on March 15.

The rear driver’s side window of a vehicle on the 21700 block of Ladyslipper Square between 1:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Feb. 14.

The front window of a store on the 44900 block of George Washington Boulevard was reported damaged between 5 p.m. Feb. 17 and 10 a.m. Feb 18.

Six tires on four school buses were reported damaged at Stone Bridge High School between 9 p.m. Feb. 27 and 7 a.m. Feb. 28.

The driver’s side window of a vehicle was reported damage on the 42740 block of Summerhouse Place at 5 p.m. March 3.

A resident reported that someone entered two unlocked vehicles on the 42700 block of Summerhouse Place between 9 p.m. March 17 and 5 a.m. March 18. Nothing was reported missing.

The soft-top roof and antenna of a vehicle on the 20100 block of Lazy River Terrace were damaged between 12:45 a.m. and 5 a.m. March 10.

The hood of a vehicle on the 43700 block of Steinbeck Square was reported spray-painted between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. March 15.

An air conditioning unit was reported damaged on the 43500 block of Oakhill Heights Court between midnight March 15 and 11:59 p.m. March 16.

A resident was an unknown person enter their vehicle on the 19100 block of Rocky Crest Terrace in Lansdowne just after midnight Feb. 9. The resident confronted the suspect, who left the seen. He was described as 5-feet-10-inches, 150 pounds and wearing dark clothing. Nothing was reported taken.

Someone reported their vehicle on the 43300 block of Markham Place had been entered, but nothing taken between 11 p.m. Feb. 19 and 8:50 a.m. Feb. 20.

Burglary, Larceny and Destruction of Property

Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputies charged Vernon L. Miles III, 20, of Aldie, with two counts of burglary, grand larceny, destruction of property and two counts of underage possession of alcohol after receiving reports of the man inside the garage of a home on the 41900 block of Blue Flag Terrace at 7:25 p.m. Feb. 21. The suspect fled before deputies arrived, and Miles was later taken into custody.

Suspicious Event

Someone reported seeing a man with a light blue, short-sleeved shirt pulling on the rear gates of homes near the 43500 block of Plantation Terrace just after 11 a.m. March 1.

Fireworks Violation

Deputies responding to the 19900 block of Upland Terrace for possible reports of gunfire around 11:45 p.m. March 8 located someone using fireworks and advised them it was a violation.
