Ashburn Crime Report: Child Struck, Purse Snatched, Candy Offered to Children

The following incidents were reported during the first two weeks in July by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

No Charges after Scion Strikes Child in Ashburn No charges were filed after a 22-year-old Ashburn man driving in along Ashburn Village Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. July 5 just before a fireworks show. According to a report, the child was with family on the median near Cheltenham Circle when he walked out between two cars into the patch of a 2013 Scion FR-S driven by the 22-year-old. The road was very crowded with pedestrians at the time of the incident. The child was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital and released the next day.

Purse Snatched from Stroller as Woman Walked Child A man was reported to have grabbed a purse from a stroller on the 44100 block of Allderwood Terrace in Ashburn around 7:41 p.m. July 3. The woman, 28, was walking in the area when the man, described as a black male aged 16 to 18, took the purse and ran. No one was injured. Deputies search the area, but could not find the suspect, described as a 5-foot-10 and wearing a gray T-shirt and black pants.

Attempt to Take Photos in DTC Restroom Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office investigators were looking into a report of an unknown person attempting to photograph a 26-year-old woman in a restroom at the Dulles Town Center just after 7 p.m. July 1.

Strangers Offer Candy to Children A 13-year-old and two children reported being confronted in the area of Fairhunt Drive and Walkley Hill Place in Ashburn around 7:30 p.m. June 29. According to a report, two people believed to be teens pulled up and asked one of the children if he wanted candy. After a brief conversation, the vehicle, described as a gray or green Jeep, pulled away.

  • Tires were reported damaged to several vehicles near the 21700 block of Jarvis Square and the 43400 block of Patching Pond Square between midnight and 9:26 a.m. July 7.
  • Six gym lockers at the Dulles Town Center were reported entered and items taken between 4 p.m. and 5:48 a.m. July 2.
  • A bicycle was reported taken from the 43100 block of Gatwick Square between 10 p.m. July 9 and 10 a.m. July 10.
