Ashburn, Eastern Loudoun Crime Update

The weekly roundup of illegal activity reported by the Sheriff's Office.

Eastern Loudoun Station

  • Pursuit/Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute: A 27-year-old Leesburg man attempted to flee from members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department who were conducting a driver’s license checkpoint at the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and Butternut Way at 2 p.m. April 20. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer Unit were conducting the checkpoint at the intersection when they observed a vehicle approach the checkpoint and then make an illegal u-turn. A deputy initiated a pursuit. The vehicle stopped a short time later just after it crossed into Fairfax County. The driver then attempted to flee on foot. The suspect, identified as Dana J. Paige, was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. Paige was found in possession of 19 small bags of marijuana and $900 in cash. The street value of the marijuana is estimated at $200. Paige was charged with eluding law enforcement, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and driving on a revoked license.
  • Brandishing Weapon: A Maryland man reported he was involved in a ‘road rage’ altercation where an unknown subject brandished a firearm on the 235400 block of Rock Haven Way between 6:35 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. April 21. The suspect’s vehicle was located and the driver was interviewed. The victim declined to pursue charges.
  • Larceny: A purse was reported taken from a vehicle on the 46300 block of Potomac Run Plaza between 7:45 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. April 22. A window was damaged to gain entry.
  • Destruction of Property: Several residents reported windows to their vehicles were damaged on the 40 block of East Broad Way between 12:01 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. April 23. Three juveniles were identified as possibly being involved in the incident. Several BB guns were seized. The case is pending.
  • Auto Theft: Deputies responded to the scene for a report of an intoxicated subject on the 45400 block of Dulles Crossing Plaza between 8 p.m. April 23 and 1 a.m. April 24. Deputies arrived and observed the subject who reported that an unknown male stole his 1998 Honda Accord. The victim appeared intoxicated. The car was later recovered in Herndon. The vehicle had been involved in a crash and had struck a telephone pole. The circumstances surrounding the reported robbery and auto theft remain under investigation. The victim was charged with drunk in public.
  • Burglary: Two televisions were reported taken from a residence on the 46100 block of Cecil Terrace between 9:15 a.m. and 1 p.m. April 24. A front door to the house was left unsecured.
  • Larceny: A resident was home when they observed an unknown subject rummaging through the trunk of their car that was parked outside on the 30 block of Rutherford Circle at 12:23 a.m. April 27. The suspect was described as a white male with a light build and was wearing a white tank top and shorts. A second suspect was also observed in the area. No description was available of the second suspect. The victim yelled at the suspects, who then fled the scene. The victim discovered cash was missing from the vehicle. A Sheriff’s Deputy discovered a second vehicle in the area of Rutherford Circle had been entered and rummaged through. It is unclear if anything is missing from that vehicle because the owner was not located at that time.

University Station

  • Burglary: A resident reported a known subject entered their home and removed cash and a piece of electronic equipment on the 20400 block of Charter Oak Drive at 11:30 p.m. April 21. Mary C. Goodman, 25, of Chantilly was charged with burglary, grand larceny and destruction of property.
  • Destruction of Property: Graffiti was spray-painted on the exterior wall of a business on the 43100 block of Southern Walk Plaza at 6:17 p.m. April 23. The case is being forwarded to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Gang Intelligence Unit.
  • Larceny: Sunglasses and a garage door opener were reported taken from a vehicle on the 21400 block of Humbolt Square at 8:08 p.m. April 23.
  • Larceny: Lacrosse gear was removed from a vehicle on the 43900 block of Lords Valley Terrace between 6 p.m. April 23 and 9 a.m. April 24.
  • Unlawful Entry: Deputies responded to a home under foreclosure on the 20300 block of Ocean Forest Court at 9:50 p.m. April 23 after a resident reported seeing several teenagers enter the home. In total, 14 teenagers were found inside the home ranging in age from 15 to 18. Ten of the teenagers were charged with unlawful entry, three were charged with unlawful entry and one was charged with possession of marijuana. One of the teens, an 18-year-old from Ashburn, was identified as the son of the homeowner. He was charged with contributing to delinquency of a minor and was held on a $5,000 bond.
  • Malicious Wounding: Deputies responded to the 44100 block of Ashburn Shopping Plaza at 3:45 a.m. April 23 for a reported fight in progress. A victim was located and found to have a wound from being struck with a bottle. The suspect, identified as James A. Hopkins, 20, of Silver Spring, Maryland was charged with felonious assault. He was being held at the Loudoun Adult Detention Center without bond.
  • Destruction of Property: A light pole belonging to the Home Owner’s Association on the 43200 block of Elk View Terrace was reported damaged between April 21 and April 22.
  • Larceny: Two bicycles were reported taken from a residence on the 21600 block of Channing Court between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. April 26. Both bicycles, along with a third were found at the scene. The third bicycle was taken from a home on the 21700 block of Oakville Terrace. A deputy searching the area located two 15-year-old juveniles who were believed to be involved in the alleged theft. The parents of both teens were notified and responded to the scene. Both victims declined to pursue charges.

  • Burglary: Sunglasses and a purse were reported taken from two unlocked vehicles that were parked in an open garage on the 26100 block of Murray Drive between 11:30 p.m. April 18 and 2:15 a.m. April 19. Credit cards belonging to the victim were used at two area stores.
  • Auto Theft: A green 2007 Honda ATV 250 that was stored in a shed was reported taken on the 40100 block of Braddock Road between 6:30 p.m. April 21 and 3:30 p.m. April 22.
  • Destruction of Property: Unknown subject(s) wrote non-gang-related graffiti on two school buses on the 42900 block of Waxpool Road between 4 p.m. April 22 and 11:45 a.m. April 23.
  • Larceny: Several items were reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the corner of Talamore Drive and Glasgow Drive between midnight and 5 a.m. April 24.  A credit card was removed and used at a nearby video rental box.
  • Larceny: Two MP3 accessories were reported taken from a vehicle on the 42500 block of Holly Hock Terrace between 8 p.m. April 23 and 10:20 a.m. April 24. A driver’s side door was damaged to enter the vehicle.
  • Burglary: A set of golf clubs were reported taken from an attached garage on the 25900 block of Priesters Pond Drive between noon April 16 and 9 p.m. April 17. The incident was reported on April 24.
  • Larceny: A laptop, MP3 player, GPS unit and other items were reported taken from a vehicle on the 42400 block of Regal Wood Drive between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. April 23.
