Ashburn, Eastern Loudoun Crime Update

Destruction of property and larceny were prominent in this week's roundup of illegal activity.

Eastern Loudoun Station

  • Larceny: A GPS unit was reported taken from a vehicle on the 46400 block of Hampshire Station Drive between 5 p.m. Apr. 4 and 12:30 a.m. Apr. 5.
  • Unlawful Entry: An employee arrived at a doctor’s office on the 21100 block of Whitfield Place between 2 a.m. and 6:25 a.m. Apr. 7 to find an unknown male sleeping in an examination room. Deshorn L. Cooper, 30, of Sterling was charged with drunk in public and unlawful entry.
  • Suspicious Event: A 6-year-old reported he was in the men’s locker room of the Claude Moore Recreation Center on the 46100 block of Loudoun Park Lane at 4:40 p.m. Apr. 7 when an unknown male approached him and asked him inappropriate questions. The male subject was not located by staff nor responding deputies.
  • Burglary: A small amount of cash was reported taken from the Zoom Digital Wireless Store on the 47000 block of Community Plaza at 2:28 a.m. Apr. 9. It was also discovered that the subject entered the Dunkin Donuts in the same plaza. The subject attempted to enter two cash registers but was unable to remove any money. The case is being investigated by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
  • Auto Theft: A 2003 Hyundai Elantra was reported taken from the 21200 block of Huntington Square between 8:30 a.m. Apr. 9 and 10 a.m. Apr. 10. The vehicle was later recovered in the area of Riverside Parkway. Nothing was removed from the vehicle.
  • Destruction of Property: A driver and his vehicle had apparently been locked inside the park grounds on the 200 block of Silverleaf Drive at 10:20 p.m. Apr. 10. After becoming frustrated, the driver drove his vehicle on a soccer field damaging the turf. The driver was charged with destruction of property.
  • Destruction of Property: A park bench was reported damaged on the 46000 block of Algonquian Parkway between 6 p.m. Apr. 11 and 8 a.m. Apr. 12. The bench belonged to the CountrySide HOA.

University Station

  • Tampering With A Vehicle: A resident heard a car alarm activated and went to investigate on the 43300 block of Wayside Circle at 1:45 a.m. Apr. 4. They discovered the driver side door ajar. Nothing was reported missing.
  • Destruction of Property: A resident discovered one of their vehicles was egged and a second vehicle was scratched on the 43900 block of Tavern Drive between midnight and 7 a.m. Apr. 5.
  • Burglary: A purse was reported taken from a residence on the 21000 block of Cardinal Pond Terrace between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Apr. 7.
  • Destruction of Property: A stone retention wall belonging to an HOA was reported damaged on the 43500 block of Mahala Street between 11 p.m. Apr. 3 and 1:20 a.m. Apr. 4.
  • Larceny: An MP3 player was reported taken from a vehicle on the 43300 block of Wayside Circle between 9 p.m. Apr. 3 and 8:45 a.m. Apr. 4.
  • Destruction of Property:  A utility box was reported spray-painted with graffiti on the 44900 block Broadview Drive between 5:30 p.m. Apr. 1 and 6 p.m. Apr. 4. It does not appear gang-related.
  • Larceny: A GPS unit and an MP3 player were reported taken from a vehicle on the 21200 block of Hidden Pond Place at 7:09 p.m. Apr. 5.
  • Destruction of Property: Several pieces of playground equipment and several picnic tables were spray painted with silver paint on the 21400 block of Windmill Drive at 9:50 a.m. Apr. 9.
  • Larceny: A GPS unit and video camera were reported taken from a vehicle on the 20100 block of Desert Forest Drive between 4 p.m. Apr. 9 and 9 a.m. Apr. 10.
  • Auto Theft: A 2001 Hyundai was reported taken from a driveway on the 21400 block of Potomac View Road between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Apr. 10.
  • Destruction of Property: A vehicle was spray painted on the 20900 block of Cedarpost Square at 5:46 p.m. Apr. 10. The exterior walls and doors of a condominium complex were also spray-painted.
  • Larceny: Two females were observed taking a tip jar from the California Tortilla restaurant on the 44000 block of Ashburn Shopping Plaza at 6:28 p.m. Apr. 10. Both suspects were described as white females. The first female had brown hair and was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt and jeans at the time of the larceny. The second female was described as having brown hair and was wearing a burgundy shirt with yellow writing and orange and red shorts.
  • Sex Offense: A resident contacted a taxi company on the 43800 block of Eagle Bend Square between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Apr. 11. After being dropped off at the listed location, the driver asked to use the victim’s bathroom. As the driver left he grabbed the victim and kissed her. The suspect was known to the victim.
  • Larceny: A credit card was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 20200 block of Millstead Drive between 10 p.m. Apr. 11 and 7:30 a.m. Apr. 12.
  • Destruction of Property: A lock was reported damaged at a storage facility on the corner of Gloucester Parkway and Smith Switch Circle between midnight and 10 a.m. Apr. 6. The interior was spray-painted.
  • Destruction of Property: A pedestrian tunnel was spray painted on the 43100 block of Ashburn Farm Parkway at 9:30 p.m. Apr. 12. The graffiti does not appear gang-related.
  • Trespass: A resident observed an unknown subject in their vehicle on the 43200 block of Gatwick Square at 1:10 a.m. Apr. 13. The subject saw the vehicle’s owner and fled the scene. He was described as a young black male wearing all dark clothing. Nothing was removed from the vehicle.

  • Larceny: A credit card was reported taken from a vehicle that was parked inside an open garage on the 25200 block of Doolittle Lane between 5:30 p.m. Apr. 6 and 8:30 a.m. Apr. 7. The credit card was used at a nearby convenience store prior to being cancelled.
  • Larceny: Concrete forms were reported taken from a construction site on the 41900 block of Riding Mill Place between 1 p.m. Apr. 2 and 8 a.m. Apr. 4.
  • Larceny: Plywood was reported taken from a construction site on the 42400 block of Ibex Drive between 5 p.m. Apr. 2 and 8 a.m. Apr. 4.
  • Destruction of Property: The driver side door and side mirror of a vehicle were reported damaged on the 43500 block of Hyland Hills Street between 5 p.m. Apr. 8 and 7 a.m. Apr. 9.
  • Destruction of Property: Two tires were damaged on a vehicle on the 40400 block of Lenah Run Circle between 11:59 p.m. Apr. 8 and 7 a.m. Apr. 9.
  • Larceny: An antique tool, gas can and toolbox were reported taken from a barn on the 22900 block of Polecat Hill Road at 11:30 p.m. Apr. 3. A lock was damaged to enter the barn.
  • Burglary: A laptop, a wallet and its contents including cash, golf clubs, beer and a tablet computer were reported taken from an open garage on the 25700 block of Phar Lap Court between midnight and 5 a.m. Apr. 12. Two unlocked vehicles parked inside the garage were also entered.
  • Destruction of Property: The rear window of a vehicle was reported damaged on the 42000 block of Village Center Plaza between 5:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. Apr. 12.
  • Burglary: A resident stated they heard dogs barking during the night on the 25200 block of Doolittle Lane between 10 p.m. Apr. 8 and 6 a.m. Apr. 9. The next morning they observed the garage door was open as well as the interior garage door. They discovered food was missing from the home.
  • Destruction of Property: Unknown subject(s) drove on 50 acres of a sod farm causing $70,000 in damage in the area of Belmont Ridge Road and Creighton Road at 5 p.m. Apr. 9. The incident was reported April 11.
  • Larceny: Alcohol was reported taken from an open garage on the 25700 block of Rawley Springs Drive between 12:10 a.m. and 8 a.m. Apr. 12. The subjects also entered a vehicle parked inside and removed two pairs of sunglasses.
