Ashburn Woman Hit Crossing Route 7

The 20-year-old victim sustained nonlife-threatening injuries

For the third time in barely more than three weeks, an Ashburn resident has been struck while crossing one of Loudoun County’s busy suburban roads.

Kiera Small was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Route 7 near Campus Drive in Sterling around 5 p.m. tonight, June 1, when a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix hit her. According to a report from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Small attempted to cross the road while westbound traffic had a green light.

She was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. The Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit investigated the accident and has filed no charges at this time.

On May 9, 8-year-old lost his life as he attempted to cross Farmwell Parkway near its intersection with Ashburn Village Boulevard. His mother was also injured in the incident. Then, on May 12, who was crossing Gloucester Parkway near Ashby Ponds.
