Bomb Training May Get Loud Thursday

Virginia State Police conducting training at Chantilly Crushed Stone quarry.

What's that sound you here in Loudoun County on Thursday morning?

It's explosives training, according to the Virginia State Police.

Bomb technicians from the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Fairfax Field Office will be conducting explosive demolition exercises and training at the Chantilly Crushed Stone quarry on Route 50.

"Residents in the immediate area of the quarry may hear booms and rumblings between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon," according to a State Police statement. "This is just a standard training exercise and there is no reason to be alarmed or to call 911 if experiencing the booms."
