Accident Briefly Blocks Traffic

A collision at the corner of Ashburn and Gloucester send driver to hospital

UPDATED AT 10:58 P.M.

Two vehicles collided this morning at the intersection of Gloucester Parkway and Ashburn Road, briefly shutting down the westbound lanes on Gloucester and the southbound lanes on Ashburn. Deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office arrived at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Witnesses told deputies that a Saturn Vu traveling eastbound on Gloucester attempted to turn onto Ashburn Road and crossed in front of a Mazda 6 traveling westbound on Gloucester. The Saturn rolled onto its side upon impact.

The Saturn's driver, who was removed from the vehicle by members of the nearby Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Safety Department, was transported to Inova Loudoun Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office report. No other injuries were reported.
