Crime Report: Bomb Threat, Car Jumps Creek

The latest reports from the Loudoun Sheriff's University Station also include a pedestrian struck while lying in the street.

Investigators believe a medical episode caused a man to lose control of his 2005 Jeep Cherokee as he headed eastbound on Route 7 around 1:52 p.m. Aug. 7. The victim, 63, veered off the road, jumped a creek, struck a fence came to rest on top of a car parked at a storage facility off Russell Branch Parkway. Emergency personnel airlifted the driver to Inova Fairfax Hospital where was listed in good condition.

Other significant incidents reported by the Loudoun Sheriff's University Station:

  • Pedestrian Struck: A newspaper delivery person driving a 2011 Nissan Versa on Bluestone Court at 5:39 a.m. Aug. 4 struck a Leesburg man lying in street. According to a report from the sheriff's office, the incident occurred as the deliver driver rounded the cul-de-sac on Bluestone. Emergency personnel transported the victim, 20, to Inova Fairfax Hospital. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Alcohol appears to have been a factor on the part of the victim. No charges are pending currently.
  • Bomb Threat: A business on the 19900 block of Highland Vista Driver reported receiving a bomb threat by phone between 4:35 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Aug. 5. Deputies searched the building and the sheriff's office dispatched a K-9 unit, but nothing suspicious was found. The incident remains under investigation.
  • Motorcycle Fatality Update: After review, the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney has charged David Wayne Schrader, 49, with failing to yield the right of way during an accident in which a motorcyclist was killed. Just after 5 p.m. Aug. 1, as Kenneth Maurice Irish III, 55, drove his 1998 Harley Davidson northbound on Ashburn Road, Schrader's 2007 Ford F150, traveling westbound on Faulkner Parkway, struck Irish. Irish was taken to INOVA Loudoun Hospital where he died from his injuries. An investigation revealed that Schrader did not yield in accordance with the posted stop sign at the intersection.
