Crime Report: Deputies Witness Crash on Sycolin

Incidents from the past week as reported by the Sheriff's University Station.

Two Loudoun County Sheriff's deputies traveling east on Sycolin Road around 3:40 p.m. July 12 witnessed a westbound Nissan Altima cross the centerline. Deputy Ethan Martin, took evasive action to avoid a collision. Martin and Deputy James Romba saw that the driver of the Altima was slumped over the steering wheel and not in control of her vehicle.

The Altima continued to travel off of the roadway and down an embankment. When the deputies arrived at the vehicle, the driver appeared to be having a medical emergency, all four doors were locked and the windows were up. A resident arrived with a hammer to break the window and then Romba put the car in park and turned it off before providing the driver with medical assistance until rescue personnel arrived on the scene. The driver is expected to fully recover. The Leesburg Police Department is investigating.
