Crime Report: False Robbery Report, Sobriety Checkpoint Charges

Recent incidents as reported by the Sheriff's Crime Report

Destruction of Property: A resident heard a noise on the 42800 block of Ridgeway Drive between at 2 a.m. Aug. 22. On Aug. 24, the resident noticed a side window was damaged. The damage appeared to be caused by a BB pellet.

Larceny: A parcel package left on the front porch of a residence was reported taken on the 43200 block of Clifton Terrace at 5:55 p.m. Aug. 26.

Sobriety Checkpoint: Nearly 550 cars passed through a sobriety checkpoint held at the 23000 block of Cascades Parkway between Aug. 26 and Aug. 27. One motorist was arrested for DUI, one for driving on a suspended license and was charged for false/ID driving without a license. Additionally, deputies charged three drivers with driving on a suspended license and six motorists were charged with driving without a license.

Gunfire: A resident reported hearing possible gunfire in the area of Potomac Station Drive and Allenby Drive at 10:48 p.m. Aug. 29. Deputies checked the area and were advised that unknown subject(s) used soda bottles to create an explosive device. The incident is being investigated by the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office.

False Police Report: A 23-year-old Ashburn man reported he was robbed after using an ATM located inside a store on the 44100 block of Ashburn Shopping Plaza at 11:32 p.m. Aug. 31. He told authorities that as he exited the store several subjects confronted him. Deputies determined the incident to be a false report and charged Andrew C. Allen with filing a false police report. He was released on a $1,000 bond.
