Crime Report: Gun Waved at Juveniles at Ashburn Village

Incidents reported during the past week to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Brandishing a Firearm

A Hispanic male in his early 20s with short black hair reportedly displayed a gun to a group of five juveniles in the Ashburn Village shopping center around 9:15 p.m.. According to a report compiled by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, one of the juveniles yelled toward the suspect vehicle after it sped into the shopping center’s parking lot. The suspect then left, heading toward Ashburn Village Boulevard. The incident remains under investigation.

Peeping Tom

A resident of the 45000 block of Brae Terrace near George Washington University in Ashburn reported seeing an unknown Asian male standing outside a glass door around 3 p.m. Jan. 14. The resident described the man as 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 with a navy blue winter coat. The unknown man fled on foot. The resident reported the incident the next day.

Attempted Phone Scam

A resident of the 42400 block of Belmont Glen Place in Ashburn reported receiving a call around 1 p.m. Jan. 17 from an unknown person who claimed to have won a large sum of money. The caller requested that the resident wire money to a bank account before transfer of the prize money. The resident believed the caller to be attempting a scam and ended the call.

Destruction of Property/Vehicle Tampering:

  • A deputy on patrol saw three juveniles go through what appeared to be a hole in a fence on the 20200 block of Medalist Drive in Ashburn at 4:31 p.m. Jan. 20. The deputy went to the spot and found that panels of a fence had been removed. The community association responsible for the fence was notified.
  • A vehicle parked on the 21500 block of Awbrey Place in Broadlands was reportedly scratched between 11 p.m. Jan. 19 and 6 a.m. Jan. 20. 
  • A vehicle owner reported that an unknown person, or people, entered the unlocked vehicle parked on the 21800 block of Parsells Ridge Court in Ashburn and rummaged through the interior between 9 p.m. Jan. 22 and 8 a.m. Jan. 23. Nothing was reported missing.

Burglary/Unlawful Entry:

  • A resident of the 21500 block of Awbrey Place in Broadlands reported seeing two unknown men take items from a refrigerator in the home’s garage just after 8:30 p.m. Jan. 14. The resident was unloading groceries when the incident occurred. The subjects left and were not located during a subsequent search.
  • A resident of the 22400 block of Deirdre Square in Ashburn on Jan. 21 reported that an unknown person, possibly more than one, entered an unlocked apartment between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Dec. 29 and took a television, a laptop computer and jewelry.
  • A resident of the 21000 block of Mossy Glen Terrace in Ashburn Village reported that someone, possibly a known person, entered their home and removed items at 4 p.m. Jan. 23.

Larceny Incidents:

  • Power tools and other items were reported taken from a trailer at a construction site near Carnegie Place and Croson Lane in Ashburn between 5 p.m. Jan. 13 and 7 a.m. Jan. 16. The suspect or suspects damaged a lock on the trailer.
  • A GPS was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 20800 block of Isherwood Terrace in Ashburn between 8 p.m. Jan. 16 and 1 p.m. Jan. 17.
  • A GPS and change were reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 20800 block of Isherwood Terrace in Ashburn between noon Jan. 15 and 9 a.m. Jan. 16. The theft was reported Jan. 18.
  • A kitchen sink was reported taken Jan. 7 from a home under construction on the 42400 block of Great Heron Square in Ashburn. The theft was reported on Jan. 18.
  • Metal panels were reported taken between midnight Jan. 18 and 11:57 p.m. Jan. 19 from a construction site on the 23300 block of Minerva Drive in Brambleton.
  • A taxi driver who provided a ride to a man from Arlington to the 20700 block of Snowpine Place in Ashburn reported that the passenger left the vehicle without paying for the service at 2:38 a.m. Jan. 22.
  • Tools were reported taken from a storage container at a construction site near Myan Gold Drive and Belmont Ridge Drive between 4 p.m. Jan. 20 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 24.
  • Construction parts, tooks and other items were reported taken from a work trailer near Myan Gold Drive and Belmont Ridge Road in Ashburn between 4:30 p.m. Jan. 20 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 24. The trailer was damaged as well.
