Crime Report: Lansdowne Man Chases Suspect from Neighbor's Garage

Check out this week's update from the Loudoun Sheriff's Office University Station.

A Lansdowne resident chased a suspected burglar away from a neighbor's home in Lansdowne, but only after several items were taken. The resident, walking a dog at the time,  observed a stranger in a neighbor's garage wearing a motorcycle helmet on the 43700 block of Riverpoint Drive at 11:50 p.m. June 1. The resident confronted the subject, who then fled on foot. After a brief chase, during which the subject turned around and brandished a firearm, the suspect ran to a black pick-up truck driven by another unknown male. A motorcycle helmet, a leaf blower and a weed wacker were reported missing from the garage.

Incident throughout the week:

  • Auto Theft: A white 2008 Honda Odyssey was reported taken from a parking spot on the 44100 block of Tippecanoe Terrace between 11:30 p.m. Mar 22 and 7 a.m. May 23. The vehicle was later recovered in Herndon, VA.
  • Destruction of Property: A GPS was reported taken from a vehicle on the 25800 block of Kirkwood Square between 4 p.m. May 23 and 7 a.m. May 24.
  • Destruction of Property: A chain link fence was reported damaged on the 26100 block of Lightridge Farm Road between 5 p.m. May 19 and 2 p.m. May 24.
  • Larceny: A purse was reported taken from an open garage on the 42900 block of Farmingdale Drive at 6:30 p.m. May 24.
  • Destruction of Property: A resident contacted the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office after they heard a window break on the 20300 block of Flushing Meadows Court at 3:06 a.m. May 26. A window was found damaged in the living room area of the home. A piece of wood appeared to have caused the damage.
  • Destruction of Property: An unknown subject(s) damaged a window of a home with a ceramic lawn ornament on the 20300 block of French Open Court at 3:06 a.m. May 26.
  • Larceny: Ceramic lawn ornaments were removed from the yard of a residence on the 43900 block of Championship Place at 3 a.m. May 26. An outdoor light also was damaged.
  • Destruction of Property: A deputy on patrol observed three flowerpots smashed in the street on the 20300 block of Advantage Court at 3:15 a.m. May 25. The homeowner was located and did not hear or see anything suspicious.
  • Larceny: Landscaping equipment was reported taken from a trailer in the area of Heatherstone Terrace and Stone Haven Drive between 9 p.m. May 25 and 2:30 p.m. May 26.
  • Destruction of Property: A cable line was reported damaged at a residence on the 20300 block of Mount Pleasant Terrace at 11:30 p.m. May 26.
  • Destruction of Property: A vehicle was reported spray-painted on the 20300 block of Bass Rocks Terrace between 5 p.m. May 27 and 7:30 a.m. May 28. The incident may be related to a series of destructions of property in May.
  • Destruction of Property: A vehicle and mailbox were reported spray-painted on the 20400 block of Alicent Terrace between 5:30 p.m. May 27 and 8:39 a.m. May 28. The incident may be related to a series of destructions of property in May.
  • Destruction of Property: A three vehicles were reported spray-painted on the 44100 block of Natalie Terrace between 6:30 p.m. May 27 and 10:45 a.m. May 28. One the vehicle’s tires was also damaged. The incident may be related to a series of destructions of property in May.
  • Destruction of Property: A mailbox was reported damaged on the 42900 block of Park Creek Drive between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. May 27.
  • Destruction of Property: A vehicle was reported spray-painted on the 43800 block of Thornberry Square between 9 p.m. May 26 and 1 p.m. May 27. The incident may be related to a series of destructions of property in May.
  • Larceny: An MP3 player and MP3 accessories were reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 21700 block of Bancroft Court between 9 p.m. May 28 and 11 a.m. May 29.
  • Destruction of Property: A mailbox was reported damaged on the 22000 block of Water Run Court at 2:38 p.m. May 28.
  • Larceny: Two bicycles were reported taken from a community pool house on the 43100 block of Lake Ridge Place between 6:40 p.m. and 8 p.m. May 30. Both bikes had been left unlocked.
  • Larceny: A bicycle was reported taken from a back porch of a residence on the 25200 block of Destination Square at 9:13 p.m. May 28.
  • Destruction of Property: Two vehicles were reported spray-painted on Stone Haven Drive between 10:45 p.m. May 27 and 4:45 a.m. May 28. The incident may be related to a series of destructions of property in May.
  • Larceny: An MP3 player and GPS were reported taken from a vehicle on the 20010 block of Coltsfoot Terrace between 5 p.m. May 27 and 10 a.m. May 30.
  • Larceny: Items were reported taken from two unlocked vehicles on the 44000 block of Ferncliff Terrace at 7:35 p.m. May 31. Items taken included a laptop, a GPS unit and a wallet. Several credit cards were used in the Sterling and Centreville area.
  • Trespassing/False Identification to Law Enforcement: Deputies responded to a community pool where two subjects had climbed a fence to access the pool that was closed on the 21000 block of Lowry Park Terrace at 8:14 p.m. May 31. A 15-year-old and 16-year-old were located and petitions are pending for trespassing. The 15-year-old is also facing a petition for false identification after he previously gave a false name to law enforcement.
  • Larceny: A deputy responded to a report of vehicle tampering on the 21700 block of Flanders Court at 4:30 a.m. May 31. The deputy came across a subject, later identified as a 17-year-old from Ashburn, in a playground area. The subject was found to have several MP3 players and other miscellaneous items in his possession. Juvenile petitions are pending.
  • Destruction of Property: Graffiti was discovered in the bathroom of a gas station on the 43900 block of Pipeline Plaza between 9 p.m. May 23 and 9 a.m. May 25.
  • Destruction of Property: The lock to a vehicle was reported damaged on the 21700 block of Green Stable Square between 8 a.m. May 31 and 8 a.m. June 1. The interior of the vehicle had been rummaged through but nothing was reported missing.
  • Larceny: Power tools were reported taken from a construction van on the 43100 block of Thistledown Terrace between 5 p.m. May 31 and 6:30 a.m. June 1.
  • Destruction of Property: A glass door was reported damaged and the interior of a building was spray-painted on the 19700 block of Helix Drive at 1:55 p.m. June 1.
