Crime Report: Purse Snatched at Dulles Crossing Plaza

The latest roundup of suspicious or criminal activity reported in or near Ashburn.

Purse Snatched While Victim Loaded Car
A woman loading items into her car just before 6 p.m. Nov. 30 reported that the driver of a small, tan pickup truck reached out and grabbed her purse on the 45400 block of Dulles Crossing Plaza. The victim described the suspect’s vehicle as tan, with a spoiler on the rear tailgate, possibly a Nissan or Isuzu.

Centreville Man Faces Multiple Charges in Ashburn
A deputy on patrol near Ashbrook Commons Nov. 26 observed a subject leaning into a parked vehicle on the 20200 block of Seneca Square around 2 a.m. After further investigation, the deputy charged Kenneth C. Hathaway, 20, of Centerville, with grand larceny, petit larceny, larceny with intent to distribute, vehicle trespassing, credit card larceny and possession of burglarious tools.

Moped Taken Near Waxpool, LoCo Parkway
An unknown person, or persons, removed a 2011 Kaitong moped from the area of Loudoun County Parkway and Waxpool Road between 10:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Nov. 22. The incident was not reported until Nov. 25.

Thefts

  • An unknown person or persons damaged a window and removed a smart phone from a vehicle on the 42400 block of Moreland Point Court between 9:30 p.m. Nov. 29 and 5:30 a.m. Nov. 30.
  • An unknown person or persons accessed the garage-door opener from an unlocked vehicle on the 42600 block of Good Hope Lane between 6:30 p.m. Nov. 29 and 8:00 a.m. Nov. 30 and entered a garage on the block. A bicycle was removed from the garage, and a GPS and a laptop were taken from the vehicle.
